Mulmul (Malmal) :
First weaved in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 17th & 18th centuries, the Europeans believed it originated in Mosul, Iraq. Hence, the name Muslin (mulmul).
The fabric is soft, delicate, lightweight and breezy, which makes it perfect summer wear around the globe. Mulmul is versatile and can be woven on all kind of looms depending on the fabric count. Mostly, fine quality mulmul is always woven with the Hand-Loom or the Pit-Loom.
Mulmul can be dyed into any color, it’s used for block prints and paintings too. So as the love for mulmul is constant and the demand is increasing day by day, here’s our very own ode to this beautiful piece of textile art…
